Robert Pattinson’s New Costar Sarah Gadon Is No Threat To Kristen Stewart

Robert Pattinson’s new Cosmopolis costar, Sarah Gadon, was announced this week and speculation has already started as to how she could affect Rob’s relationship with girlfriend Kristen Stewart.


Sarah is pretty, no doubt, but is she really a threat to the Twilight couple’s relationship? Celebuzz staffers give a collective yeah right! Friends of the up-and-coming actress seem to agree. Sources close to Gadon tell E! News that Sarah is already “taken” and is truly a “sweet girl.”


“She’s so not like that,” a pal told Ted Casablanca.


Is everyone forgetting Rob is so not like that either?As if you didn’t already think Pattinson was a total sweetheart, just yesterday he melted our hearts by telling Italian Vanity Fair that he “doesn’t understand why people cheat.”


While you may not get Rob discussing his relationship with Kristen Stewart (“my private life is off-limit” he said earlier this week), Pattinson did reveal he is not one for “short and superficial love affairs” or “casual relationships.”

'Cosmopolis' Update: Sarah Gadon Will Play Elise

The Playlist With production set to being shooting this summer in Toronto, casting on David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, and Mathieu Amalric is wrapping up. Samantha Morton joined the cast last week—via a Robert Pattinson interview—now she’s been confirmed and according to Entertainment One, who is handling the picture’s distribution in Canada, one more has joined the cast: Canadian actress Sarah Gadon.

Known in Canada for the television series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?,” Gadon currently stars on the CBC drama, “The Border.” More importantly she has already worked with Cronenberg landing a smaller role in the filmmaker’s already-shot “A Dangerous Method” where she plays Emma Jung, Carl Jung’s wife. That picture stars Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.

'Cosmopolis' Update

Rob is "very good for the part."
Cosmopolis co-star Paul Giamatti couldn’t see anybody else playing Rob’s role in the upcoming flick. “He’s very good for the part,”Paul told the source at the Win Win New York special screening hosted by Nixon and GQ. “He’s great! Absolutely love the guy!”

Paul’s character is one of two men stalking Rob’s character, Eric Packer, after Eric loses a lot of his clients’ money by betting against the yen.
“It’s based on a novel. It’s mostly about that Robert Pattinson guy — he’s a very wealthy banker. It’s about a day in his life basically,” explains Paul. “But it’s a very strange and sinister story.”

You have upcoming roles in George Clooney’s “The Ides Of March” and David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis.” Can you discuss those roles and how they were offered to you?

The Clooney thing I read awhile ago, and he knew he was gonna be doing it now. It’s a really really really really good script and a really nice part. No reason not to do it. “Cosmopolis” was the same thing. I’ve met Cronenberg a couple of times, and I’ve had sort of a number of funny near-misses with movies of his, and I ended up not doing them for various reasons. I think “A History of Violence,” there was something I was going to end up doing in that. I love his movies, and he’s a great guy. It’s a very bizarre part. I’m gonna let it remain a mystery. It’s a really strange character.

A chatty Robert Pattinson revealed to MTV that Morton has joined David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis” saying, “I know Juliette Binoche is in it now, and Samantha Morton. It’s going to be a crazy cast. Like, I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing.”

Regular collaborators composer Howard Shore and director of photography Peter Suschitzy are said to be returning to work with Cronenberg on the film, which is gearing up to start shooting in May in Toronto for nine weeks.

Article: Robert Pattinson To Star In Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’

Don DeLillo’s “Cosmopolis” is a vintage, icy satire. It might share the NYC setting and financial playground staked out by Oliver Stone in “Wall Street,” but whereas Charlie Sheen stands at his balcony and asks, “Who am I,” Eric Packer looks at his skyscraper penthouse from the street below and remembers, “I want a haircut.”


And so begins Packer’s Ulyssian odyssey through Manhattan as a 28 year old billionaire hedge fund manager, who’s made his money in tech stocks, and has an almost abstract-nihilistic approach to life and business.


Packer is, for all intents and purposes, an example of the Cartesian cogito ergo sum made flesh. The reader of “Cosmopolis” gets the impression that Packer might have sincerely tried to infuse meaning into existence, and simply discarded the notion when intellectual or financial excellence revealed no greater truths.


In fact, in the early chapters, there is no greater meaning to be derived from Packer’s existence or existence, in general. He reads poetry to hear his breathing and marries a poet and heir to a European banking dynasty, even though he thinks she’s a shit poet and he doesn’t need the money.


Everything in existence, whether biological or digital (like illuminated stock numbers), is merely a projection of a life without meaning for Packer. But it becomes apparent, as the novel progresses, that Packer is not simply some simple projection of post-modern nihilism.


With that in mind, is it possible for Robert Pattinson to pull of a character that can so easily descend into caricature?

Indie Movies Says Robs A 'Naural For Cosmopolis'

Indie Movies has posted a two-part special on Cosmopolis. Be aware that it is rife with spoilers and adult content, so if you don’t want to hear about any of that, then don’t read on.


Here’s a snippet of what’s in the article:


“I said yes as soon as he called,” said Pattinson to MTV when asked about his sudden drafting into the Cosmopolis actors company.”


The collaboration with an internationally-respected director such as Cronenberg then forms another facet of that process – one that can, he will surely be hoping, bolster his credibility in the eyes of critics and those film fans who have given him such a hard time to date. Those film fans being, as we determined yesterday, precisely the kind of auteurists who bow down and worship at the knee of Cronenberg.

Possible Robert Pattinson Interaction with Female Freaks Out HollywoodLife

It’s reached the point where HollywoodLife no longer even pretends to be anything other than a petri dish for paranoid fantasy.
Robert Pattinson, you may have heard, is set to star in a film adaptation of Cosmopolis.
Cosmopolis, as it happens, is not a monologue.
That means other people will be paid money to read lines into cameras and pretend to be fictional characters.
Some of these “actors” will even be (gasp) women!
You read that correctly – Robert Pattinson will work with females, including, HollywoodLife fears, “the very gorgeous, and much older” Juliette Binoche.
For HollywoodLife, Binoche’s participation could spell all kinds of trouble, and the site wonders, “Should Kristen Stewart be worried?”
Um… there doesn’t seem to be much of an explanation, other than Binoche being a “gorgeous older woman.”
It’s all part of HollywoodLife’s airtight logic – any woman who comes into contact with Pattinson is a threat to Stewart.
An older flight attendant serves Pattinson coffee on a flight? Alert Stewart!
Pattinson bumps into his elementary school teacher at the market? Emergency on Aisle 7!
He holds open the door for a woman at Starbucks? Scandal!
HollywoodLife really – really – should chill out with the incessant suggestions that any Pattinson interaction with someone of the opposite sex is a potential crisis for his relationship.
No one is “worried” nearly as much as the site itself.

'Cosmopolis' Update!

Cosmopolis producer Paulo Branco confirmed to Screen Daily that Juliette Binoche is now part of the cast:


He [Branco] also said that there was now a confirmed shooting date for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis (sold by Kinology but produced by Branco) of May 24. Paul Giamatti and Juliette Binoche have also joined the cast.


Binoche seems like a good match for this unique film and Rob. We don't know who she will be playing yet, but we'll update you as we get more information.

According to PattinsonStew, C7nema is reporting that Mathieu Amalric has joined the cast as well. Howard Shore is reportedly also attached to Cronenberg's project.


As of now filming is set to begin May 24 in Toronto, and at some point move to New York. C7nema adds that filming will last for nine weeks.

Keira Knightley Will NOT Co-Star With Rob In Cosmpolis

According to upandcomers.net, Keira Knightley will not costar with Rob in Cosmopolis:


Keira Knightley will not be appearing in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis”, the actress’s reps confirmed to us today. Knightley’s name was brought into the casting conversation following some eagle-eyed fans seeing her name listed alongside star Robert Pattinson’s on the production company’s website. When the internet exploded with the news, her name was quickly removed and her reps declined to comment on her involvement until today, with a solid “she’s not in it”.

Kristen Stewart's Alleged 'Potty Mouth' Problem

With no actual controversy brewing on the Breaking Dawn shoot down in Louisiana, dirt about Kristen Stewart has been replaced by talk about… her “dirty” mouth.


E! Online claims the actress drops so many “F-bombs,” editors have to be especially careful that “her potty-mouth outbursts don’t make it in the film.”


Stewart supposedly “curses up a storm” out of frustration whenever she stumbles on her lines, says the site, which commends Stewart for her caring so much about getting Bella Swan right, but worries about her expletive-laced perfectionism.


But this alleged obscenity overload is really f’n exaggerated.


Sources on the set tell Gossip Cop that Stewart does occasionally let an expletive fly – like almost everyone else.


However, we’re assured Stewart’s swearing is certainly “not a distraction” to the production, nor would it ever interfere with the film’s editing.

The summer of 2009 was a whirlwind for OLV and the city of NYC thanks to the arrival of Robert Pattinson who was in town to shoot Remember Me.


The shoot landed us, our readers, and Robert Pattinson in the headlines for the chaos that ensued each day Rob was filming on location, and now it looks like we may be doing it all again.


We’ve already reported that Robert’s next project,Cosmopolis, is expected to begin shooting in Toronto in May, but now several news outlets are also reporting a portion of the movie will be filmed in New York City this summer too. ScreenRant, Playlist, and IMDb all now list New York as one of the movie’s filming locations!


Cosmopolis, which may also star Keira Knightly, is about newlywed billionaire Eric Packer, who awakens one morning and realizes that “he didn’t know what he wanted. Then he knew. He wanted to get a haircut.” That seemingly innocuous desire leads the cocky, adulterous young man on an odyssey across Manhattan that results in him being stalked, attacked, and losing the entirety of his fortune – all over the course of 24 hours.

Keira Knightley Replacing Marion Cotillard In 'Cosmopolis'

Well, we were once pretty excited for David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis,” but with the cast being switched out wholesale, our expectations have diminished. With Robert Pattinson replacing Colin Farrell earlier in the month, it suddenly didn’t make much sense to have the previously attached female Marion Cotillard still on board to play his wife (she’s ten years his senior). And so no surprise, it looks like she’s been replaced too.


The eagle eyes over at the the Cosmopolis fansite noticed an interesting update at the Alfama Films website. The production company is now listing Keira Knightley as part of the cast and considering there is only one female role in the film, it looks like she has gone ahead and replaced Marion Cotillard in the movie.


Based on Don DeLillo‘s book of the same name, the film follows 24 hours in the life of a newly married billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he cheats on his wife, is pursued by a stalker, gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day. Knightley would play his wife, and considering they are only a year apart in age, it makes a lot of sense. Paul Giamatti, who was in talks for the film late last year for a role as one of the stalkers pursuing the billionaire, is noticeably missing from the cast list. Perhaps he’s been put off from the recent casting changes and has decided to move on as it’s a considerable step down going from working with Farrell and Cotillard to uh, Pattinson and Knightley.It’s a bit of a shame really because the premise is really exciting, but we’re just not convinced that Pattinson has the steel to pull off the role and carry the film. As for Knightley, she could do fine in the film and as she spent the summer shooting the period-based “A Dangerous Method” with Cronenberg (alongside Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen), she and the director clearly got on so well that they are eager to work together again. But overall, the casting is simply less energizing to us that what it started out with.


Official word is likely to be along shortly as the film gears up to shoot in May in Toronto and New York City.

Cosmopolis Talk from Critics

Now that Rob’s involvement in Cosmopolis has been announced, various people are sounding off about what they think of his involvement and how he’ll fare outside of Twilight. Adam Rosenberg of Spinoff Online said:


Robert Pattinson, the dreamy-eyed, debatably talented star of the ‘tween sensation Twilight series has nailed down his first post-vampire role, and it’s a bit of a coup…I say “debatably talented” because, frankly, the jury’s still out on Pattinson from where I’m sitting. While I respect what the Twilight movies represent in terms of widening the reach and appeal of geek culture… they’re really not very good…I understand the appeal, but I’m not willing to pass judgment on any of the cast based on their involvement in the series.

Originally a role slated for Colin Farrell, it appears as though Pattinson has taken over the film’s lead role…Personally, I do think that Pattinson may have a bit more talent than a role like Edward in the Twilight series may suggest, and there is no other filmmaker more suited to getting that type of performance out of a young actor than Cronenberg.

New 'Cosmopolis' Co-Star For Rob?

UPDATE: People magazine is reporting the baby is due this spring. Phew.. we think.


With the announcement that Marion Cotillard is expecting her first baby, her role as the woman Rob sleeps with in Cosmopolis is likely now up in the air. That is unless she's one of those mamas who hides her bundle well, or they push up/back a May production start. Keep you posted!
